Peter Cairns
(b. 1846)
Peter Cairns created a Guarneri model featuring broad and deeply channelled edges. It had a strong, well-carved scroll and broad, upright soundholes. The varnish was a soft light brown. Some experimental instruments were made with hardwood fronts, and the back and front were curiously differentiated, with the ribs tapering between them.
