Gaetano Pasta
Violin maker
(c. 1679 – c. 1760)
A son of Bartolomeo Pasta, he was born in Milan and moved to Brescia around 1694. His work is strongly influenced by Rogeri, suggesting that they worked together. However, his labels state ‘Milanese, allievo dell Amati di Cremona’.
His style is a less refined version of Rogeri, with the purfling sometimes scratched rather than inlaid, but the outline and modelling is fine, robust and classical.
