Jules Joseph Grandjon
Violin maker
(b. 1824)
Jules Joseph Grandjon was the son, pupil, and successor of Prosper Gérard Grandjon. He initially worked in Paris and Amsterdam, where he took over the business of his brother L. Grandjon, before establishing his own factory in Mirecourt around 1850. He was awarded a medal at the 1855 Paris exposition. His label read: 'Breveté J. Grandjon à Paris J.G. / S.G.D.G. Fabrique de Mirecourt (Vosges) /103 Boulevard Sebastopol et Rue Réaumur 74'. Vannes suggested that this might be the Joseph Grandjon whose birth was recorded in Mirecourt in 1792.
