Michael (Mihály) Reményi apprenticed to E. Bartek in 1881 and later with G. Tanczer. He qualified as a luthier in 1885 and was employed by P. Pilat from 1887 and A. Ferenczy from 1889. He established himself independently in 1890. He was a noted connoisseur, producing violins based on Guarneri and Stradivari models with oil and spirit varnishes. His work was very accurate and professional.
