In fact, recent research suggests that the Guidanti family was perhaps larger than originally thought, and prompts us to rethink the authorship of instruments bearing the original label "Joannes Florenus Guidantus." These instruments possess stylistic characteristics that place them after the time of Tononi, and are likely the work of Giovanni Guidanti, but more research should be done on this important family of makers before definitive attributions can be established.
