Christian Wilhelm Knopf I fathered two sons who both continued the family's German bow-making trade: Christian Friedrich Wilhelm Knopf, his youngest, praised for fine craftsmanship and himself the trainer of several nephews in turn; and Karl Wilhelm Knopf, his second son, who became father to Johann Wilhelm and Carl Heinrich Knopf, extending the dynasty into yet another generation.
