Nicolas Simon FR
Bow maker
(1806 – 1864)
Nicolas Simon was a fine bow maker from Mirecourt, associated with the Pecatte school, known for strong heads, sticks of rounded triangular section, and frogs with an open throat. He established his business under his own name around 1840. Millant suggested that the letters TR' in his brand referred to his wife, M. Frebinet. Bows continued to be produced under this name for ten years following Simon's death, likely due to his wife's close involvement with the business, which allowed her to run the shop until her own death in 1874. His brand was SIMON. FR.
