JOSEF Merk trained in Mittenwald from 1906 to 1910. He was a pupil of Sprenger in Frankfurt. In 1919, he returned to Mirecourt, France, to take over the business of Bornheim. He engaged in the commercial production of violins, violas, cellos, lutes, and guitars.
