Wilhelm Meier-Pauselius studied under August Diehl and Georg Winterling from 1910 to 1913. He worked for various makers in Germany, Italy, France, and Scandinavia. In 1921, he passed the master's examinations and established himself independently in Hamburg. Shortly thereafter, he spent two years working in San Francisco, returning to Hamburg in 1925. His instruments featured Stradivari and Guarneri models with golden-red oil varnish.
