Archibald Morrison established himself as a musician and violin maker in Glasgow from 1854. He worked for John Mann starting in 1860 and became independent in 1865. Some examples were also labelled from Bridgetown, Glasgow. He used Amati and Stradivari models, later focusing on Guarneri. His work was very detailed and conscientious, though somewhat heavy. He utilized good materials and varnish, but often employed heavy grained local pine for the tops.
