Anton Galla
Violin maker
(1897 – 1972)
Anton Galla was active in Prerov in 1926 and in Kosice, Slovakia until 1938. He subsequently established himself in Brno. He was a prolific maker of instruments based on Stradivari and Guarneri models, using good materials. His oil varnish was bright orange and somewhat gummy. He signed his work internally and branded it with 'Galla Kosice'. Violins that lacked a signature and number on the label were produced by his assistants.
