August Moritz Knopf
                                    Bow maker
                                    (1857 – c. 1889)

August Moritz Knopf studied under O. B. Heinel and worked for Winterling in Hamburg, A. Goetz and E. Gaesel in Markneukirchen, A. Zoephel in Magdeburg, and J. H. Zimmermann in Leipzig. He was registered as a bow maker in Dresden from 1886 to 1888 and is possibly the Knopf referred to as the manager of the Löwenthal shop in Berlin. Although no bows with his stamp are known, many bows with the Löwenthal stamp are reminiscent of Knopf family work. There are also claims that he worked for Zimmermann in Moscow.
