Michael Klotz was the son of Johann Karl Klotz and is known for his rare instruments, which often bore the labels of Joseph Klotz. He created decorated work featuring ebony and ivory inlay on the outer edges and around the scroll, with some instruments having backs made of bird's eye maple. His work exhibited Amatisé characteristics, including the distinctive Klotz scroll and extended curved wings leading to the soundhole. The varnish was of good quality, being thin in texture yet transparent, with both dark and light shades. Instruments attributed to Michael Klotz may not be directly related to this branch of the Mittenwald family, as historical records indicate that another Michael Klotz, who died in infancy, could not have been a violin maker Johann Karl Klotz.
