Ladislav Kaplan emigrated to New York in 1893 and made his first violin in 1895. He was in business as Muller & Kaplan in 1922. In 1929, he established himself independently in South Norwalk, Connecticut, where he founded the Kaplan Musical String Co., which continues to produce strings successfully.
