Paul Voigt was the son of Paul Arno Voigt. He apprenticed in Markneukirchen and returned to his father's workshop in Manchester. Subsequently, he opened his own business on Shaftesbury Avenue in London, assisted by his brother Ernst and later by Ernst's son, Peter Ernest.
