Johann Christoph Hoyer was a violin maker known for his decent craftsmanship in the Tyrolese style. He worked in Klingenthal, where he became Principal of the Violin Makers' Guild in 1792. His instruments were finished with red-brown varnish, and he labeled them 'Johann Christoph Hoyer / Statuari Cremonalis Bavibat. 1766 Johann Christoph Hoyer / in Klingenthal 1798.'
