Alfred Vidoudez

Alfred Vidoudez was a pupil of G. Bazin in Mirecourt. He subsequently worked for Mougenot in Brussels. After completing military service, he went to Leon Bernardel in Paris. He established himself independently in Geneva from 1904 and was appointed luthier to the Geneva Conservatoire. He received medals at Berne and Lyons. His work featured Stradivari and Guarneri models, showcasing accurate and clean workmanship in the French style. His earlier pieces utilized substantial red-brown oil varnish, while he later employed a thinner, paler golden-yellow or orange.
