Mathias Hornsteiner added the title `Gratzs' to his labels, likely to differentiate himself from Mathias Tax'. His work featured high arches and was characteristic of typical Mittenwald craftsmanship of high quality. The varnish was extremely variable, generally appearing dark red-brown.
