Giovanni Tedesco
Violin maker
(1861 – 1947)
Giovanni Tedesco created a fine Stradivari model cello in the style of Gagliano, characterized by plain materials and a nicely concentric scroll with a thin chamfer. The varnish was a pale golden yellow-brown. His work bears a resemblance to that of Vincenzo Sannino, who may have been his pupil, although Tedesco's instruments tend to utilize plainer materials than the more flamboyant Sannino.
