Julius Gütter
Violin maker
(1872 – 1961)
Julius Gütter worked in Leipzig for Franz Glass and in Aachen for Holm Viertel before he emigrated to Philadelphia in 1893. There, he collaborated with Arnold Voigt and later established himself independently from 1894 to 1950. His fine workmanship resulted in the creation of over 50 Stradivari model violins. Bows that bore his name were crafted by his assistant Franz Winkler.
