Wilhem Theodor Gutermann

Wilhem Theodor Gutermann was a pupil of Engleder in Munich and worked for Tieffenbrunner, Stecher, Kiendl, and Hoffmann in Vienna from 1851 to 1866. In 1867, he established a successful workshop in Vienna, eventually employing several assistants. His workmanship was noted for its fine quality with clear red varnish. Some violins of an eccentric and unsuccessful model, originating from Dr. Liharzik, were labelled: K K Priv Liharzik, while the usual label read: W. Theodor Gutermann / Fecit Viennae. Anno 18.. He was active as a maker in the late 19th century
