Nicolò Gusetto
–
Nicolò Gusetto was a supposed maker for whom Henley and Vannes provided significantly different dates, along with generous descriptions suggesting a substantial body of work. No biographical evidence of his existence has been discovered, nor are any instruments currently traceable. According to the labels reproduced in these dictionaries, he was a native of Florence and worked in Cremona from as early as 1701 until as late as 1813, although it is suggested that these later examples were completed by followers after his death. Descriptions included both Tyrolean and Stradivari models, presumably fictional.
