Pio Soccol


Violin maker
(1820 – 1893)

Pio Soccol, a violin maker and physician born in the village of Taibon in the Veneto region, worked in Agordo from 1868 to 1873 before moving to Genoa. He was noted for creating an accurate Guarneri model with deep red varnish, as highlighted by Henley, and received a medal at the London Exhibition in 1870. His work was described as third rate by Vannes, from Valdrighi
