Ettore Siega
Violin maker
(1860 – 1936)
Ettore Siega was a pupil of E. Degani and G. Schwarz. He received several gold medals. His style, derived from Degani, was sometimes a bit mannered. The soundhole featured sharply emphasised fluting all around its outer edge. The arching appeared rather boxy, and the purfling was wide. The scroll was somewhat weak. He used a deep glossy red-brown varnish that was well finished.
