Simon Gilbert

Simon Gilbert was presumed to be the son of Nicolas Gilbert. He served as a violinist in the Cathedral Orchestra at Metz from 1745 to 1768. Two quintons, dated 1744 and 1749, along with a pardessus de viole from around 1755, were cited by Vannes in the Kinsky catalogue. His violins followed an Amati model.
