George Gemünder II
Violin maker
(1859 – 1915)
George Gemünder was the son and pupil of George Gemünder I, known as George Jr. He began working with his father in the 1870s and became a partner in the firm in 1882. After his father's death in 1899, he took over as head of August Gemünder & Sons. His violins exhibit many characteristics of his father's style, although they are noted to be less rich and elegant. He made copies of master instruments using his father's varnish
