Max Franke
(1880 – 1965)
Max Franke studied under Otto Jaeger in Frankfurt from 1894 to 1898. He then worked for H. Kessler in Mannheim and for R. Heberlein in Nuremberg. From 1900, he served as a senior assistant to A. Wilfer in Leipzig before founding his own business there in 1921. His son Joachim succeeded him in 1956. He utilized Stradivari and Guarneri models and branded his work as `Franke Leipzig'.
