Léon Bernardel

(1853 – 1931)
Born in Paris, he was the son and pupil of Ernest Auguste. Studied for a year with Justin Derazey before joining the Gand & Bernadel Frères firm. Founded his own establishment in 1899 at 40 rue du Faubourg Poissonnière, working with his son, Léon Bernardel II. Won a bronze medal at the 1900 Exposition Universelle.
...Read More />As well as making fine 'artist' violins in the Lupot style, his workshop produced student-quality instruments (some made for him in Mirecourt) and fine bows stamped 'Leon Bernardel'.
