Born in Paris, he was the son and pupil of Ernest Auguste. Studied for a year with Justin Derazey before joining his brother in the Gand and Bernadel frères firm. As well as making fine 'artist' violins in the Lupot style, his workshop produced student-quality instruments (some made for him in Mirecourt) and fine bows stamped 'Leon Bernardel'. Read Less
