John K. Empsall

John K. Empsall was a violinist of the Bradford Symphony Orchestra and an amateur maker. He experimented with varnish and imported mass-produced instruments in the white, finishing them with various varnishes that yielded widely varying results. He created a few instruments entirely of his own make.
