Johann (Hans) Andreas Dörffel I
Violin maker
(c. 1718 – 1769)
Johann (Hans) Andreas Dörffel was the best maker of this family. The model was large, with an arching that was not too exaggerated. His work was well-finished, featuring neat scrolls and a good golden brown varnish. Violas were of very useful size and were worthy instruments. He was also known for richly ornamented viola d'amores.
