L. Dobrianski
(b. 1865)
L. Dobrianski was chiefly a repairer and restorer. He received responsibility for the royal collection at St. Petersburg and, after the Communist revolution, for the State Museum in Moscow. He also worked on the collection of Ludwig Ferdinand, Prince of Bavaria. Dobrianski made several copies of specific classical instruments; some were reportedly passed off in Russia as original Stradivari instruments. He also devised a personal model based on lira da braccio forms, which lacked upper corners.
