                                    Violin maker
                                    (c. 1730 – 1764)

Nicolas Des Rousseaux trained under Joseph Miraucourt and eventually married his daughter, taking over the business 'à la Luth' in Verdun. He produced rather coarsely-made Stainer model instruments featuring high-set elongated soundholes and yellow-brown varnish. Two pardessus de viol were cited in the Snoeck collection at the Musical Instruments Museum in Brussels and the Kinsky collection at the Heyer Museum in Cologne. His instruments were branded on the back: `Desroussaux a Verdun'.
