Johann Gottlob Pfretzschner
Violin maker
(1753 – 1823)
Johann Gottlob Pfretzschner created instruments with good workmanship on an elongated Stainer model. The high arch featured a characteristically Saxon head with an exaggerated tail behind the eye of the volute. He used a golden-brown varnish. Towards the end of his life, he was credited with some more developed instruments that resembled those of Stradivari.
