Carl Becker Jr.
Violin maker
(1919 – 2013)
Carl F. Becker Jr. began working with his father Carl Sr. around 1934 and soon joined him at the Chicago firm of William Lewis & Son. From 1948 to 1967 the two men collaborated, producing jointly-made instruments, which are numbered 489-726. In 1969, father and son left to form their own business, which continues to operate under the guidance of the Becker family at the time of this writing. Apart from collaborative efforts with his father, Becker Jr. made few instruments and focused mostly on high-level restoration.
