James Omond
Violin maker
(1833 – 1907)
James Omond was a clock maker and amateur luthier. He was active from 1872 in Stromness, Orkney, before later relocating to Kirbuster. He produced over 300 violins, violas, and cellos based on Stradivari and Guarneri models. His work was fairly crude.
