Nicolas Emile Cherpitel worked as a pupil of Grandjon. He was employed by Gand Brothers in Paris starting in 1859. In 1870, he opened his own shop at 364 rue St-Denis. He received medals at the Paris Exhibition in 1878. The shop relocated to 16, rue du Faubourg Poissonière in 1884 and continued operating under his nephew C. Moinel until 1899.
