John H. Nebeker was a bow maker and violin repairer. In 1969, he worked as a violin repairer for Pearce Music and from 1970 for Peter Prier. He began making bows in 1976. In 1978, he moved to Miami, Florida, to work for Harry Duffy. He later worked for Don Eckland in Dallas, Texas. He established himself independently in Phoenix, Arizona for a short time before returning to Salt Lake City in 1985. He created about 100 bows based on English and French models with round sticks. He received certificates at the Violin Society of America competition in 1978. The best bows featured an engraved silver plate reading: 'J. H. Nebeker'. He branded his work as J. H. NEBEKER.
