Felice Mori Costa
Violin maker
(c. 1756 – c. 1825)
Felice Mori Costa's distinctive workmanship featured an elegantly slender design, characterized by long soundholes and low-set nicks cut in an unusual manner, reminiscent of Guadagnini. While his choice of materials could be plain, he often applied a fine varnish that varied from dark golden-yellow to plum-colored. His style included personal touches such as uneven f-holes similar to late Stradivari, with abbreviated inner notches. Although he frequently used his own model, he occasionally referenced Guadagnini models. The rarity of instruments bearing his label contributes to the limited recognition of his work.
