Luigi Montanari
Violin maker
(c. 1868 – 1908)
Born in Bergamo, Luigi Montanari studied with Riccardo Antoniazzi in Milan before going to work for Leandro Bisiach. He died in 1908, shortly after returning to his hometown. Montanari's signed production was small, consisting mostly of cellos, and show the influence of his teacher. Varnish is typically red.
