George E. Millis

George E. Millis was a carpenter and a self-taught violin maker. He moved to Cleveland in 1889 and was employed by the Eastman Violin Shop. He created about 200 instruments based on Stradivari and Guarneri models. His hard varnish was of his own formulation, and he also made several bows.
