Filippo Brandilioni
(c. 1775 – 1834)
Filippo Brandilioni was a rarely encountered maker of obscure origin. His style was compared by Vannes to that of Leopold Widhalm, while Henley made a connection with Mittenwald, leading to the supposition that he had German origins with an Italianised name. Scrolls were observed with either an ebony or painted line around the spine of the pegbox and volute. The varnish was red-brown or had a soft textured orange appearance.
