Luigi Bertelli was a prize winner at the 'Santa Cecilia' competition in Rome in 1956. Initially an amateur maker, he completed 40 violins, seven violas, and two cellos by 1952. In that year, he moved to São Paolo, Brazil with his son Enzo, but he returned to Verona in 1953. His work featured good classical modeling with varnish ranging from golden to red-orange.
