Giuseppe (di Saladino) Bargelli was a prolific maker in the Florentine tradition, assisted by his son Gastone (b. 1921). Initially self-taught, he was guided by Sderci after 1918. He established his workshop at 12 Via Saponai, Florence, where he carried out restoration and repairs for the Conservatoire. Over 300 instruments were credited to him, all belonging to the violin family, including double basses. A violin in the Guadagnini style, dated 1927, is part of the Cherubini Collection in Florence.
