Jean Paul Lauxerrois
Bow maker
(b. 1928)
A cousin of Etienne Vatelot, Lauxerrois initially took up an apprenticeship in violin making with Marcel Vatelot in 1947, but soon moved to learn bow making under François Lotte. In 1951 he returned to work as a bow maker for Vatelot, where he met André Chardon, whose influence can be seen in his work. After a period away from bow making in the 1960s and 70s, he had settled in Bordeaux and resumed bow making by 1980, finally retiring in 1993.
