Joseph Kun


Bow maker
(1930 – 1996)

Born in Czechoslovakia in 1930, Joseph Kun settled in Ottawa, Canada in 1968. Best known for his design of a shoulder rest patented in 1972, he was also an accomplihsed bow-maker, winning three gold medals and one silver medal at the biennial International Violin and Bow Makers Competition in 1983. He also co-authored the book The Art of Bow-Making.
