Claude Aubert was a maker of plucked instruments based in Troyes, France. He employed A. Vuillaume and C. Giron, who became his successors. His craftsmanship featured a full arch, deeply worked edges, and long, Stradivarian soundholes. The head was upright on the pegbox with a large open throat, and his work was noted for neat purfling interrupted at the back button. The varnish was rich and golden-yellow. He branded his instruments at the break in the purfling on the upper back with `Aubert à Troyes,' and a manuscript label was also present. His output primarily consisted of plucked instruments
