Sándor Komáromy
Violin maker

Sándor Komáromy apprenticed to Andras Bergmann from 1903 to 1906. He subsequently worked for Otto Karl Zimmer and Stowasser in Budapest, for Bela Babas in Hermannstadt, and for Nandor Hock in Rakospalota. He established himself independently in Budapest starting in 1917. He was credited with over 100 instruments, which included all bowed strings and several types of plucked instruments. His work featured Stainer and Cremonese models with spirit varnished in various shades and exhibited fine professional workmanship. He branded his instruments on the lower rib: Tomaromy S. '. The manuscript label read: Keszitette / Komaromy Sandor / heged keszito / Budapest 1921. Opus 28.
