Johann Georg Nürnberger
Bow maker
(1763 – 1820)
Johann Georg Nürnberger was the son and pupil of Johann Adam Nürnberger. Admitted to the violin maker's guild in 1785, his work was neat but rather bland, featuring a flattish model. The outline was narrow with small outward pointing corners and boxy arching. He included a long pegbox and a small volute. His instruments had thin transparent varnish and used plain materials. They were branded on the upper back with `*I*G*N*'.
