Johann Georg Thumhardt was presumed to be the son of Johann Thumhardt. He was appointed as the luthier to the court of Amberg. He was prolific and among the better makers in his family. The long form and arching were well-achieved, although the detailing and finish were inconsistent. He used fine materials and red-brown varnish. He also made various types of plucked instruments.
