Andrew Hyde was a musician and mechanic. He was an active violin and bow maker in Northampton from 1886. He had previously worked for Thomas Edison. A prolific maker, he was credited with over 1, 200 Stradivari model violins, violas, and cellos, as well as Tourte model bows. Some instruments were made for John C. Haynes.
