Andrew Hyde
Violin maker

Andrew Hyde was a musician and mechanic. He was an active violin and bow maker in Northampton from 1886. He had previously worked for Thomas Edison. A prolific maker, he was credited with over 1, 200 Stradivari model violins, violas, and cellos, as well as Tourte model bows. Some instruments were made for John C. Haynes. He authored A Treatise on the Violin, published in Northampton in 1902. He made an instrument in Northampton in 1894.
